I have painted several self-portraits in the past, usually self-deprivating in some way, always revealing more than I had wished. This time I tried to do the reverse.
By following Eugene’s instructions as closely as I could, I wanted to depict myself in a more humane light, dare I say it, even happier, more relaxed, almost half smiling – which was hard as I was a nervous wreck.
The painting is a gift for my son, Alexander, just one month old, to mark his birth.
I hope he likes it; he has a life time to decide.
