Mental ill health has plagued me as far back as I can remember. I left school at 16, soon suffering my first "official" nervous breakdown at age 17. Since then, two significant constants have fashioned my existance. The treatment of, and daily struggle to cope with my difficulties, yet somehow at the same time a growing realization of an innate desire to express through art; though this force has been largely smothered by the prior. Eventually I graduated from University having studied Film & Painting. Unfortunately however, a 10 year period of non-production was about to begin. Thankfully ended most recently with the help of Shrub Hill Work Shop, where I enjoy a welcome return to painting pictures, of which this piece is a result.
